How To Play Pocket Pairs

There are several ways you can play your pocket pairs, Flat Call, Small Raise, big Raise And Of course all In, but what is the right strategy to use, the correct move or more importantly when is the right time to make each of the available moves open to you while holding pocket pairs.

Cash Table Pocket Pairs

Okay so your sitting comfortable and you have been dealt a pocket pair now several things can happen depending on position or my be not!! lets look at it from another perspective, lets say the small blind is 0.25 and the big blind 0.50 and a normal raise at the table has been $2.00 now provided there is no re-raise by another player then of course you should flat call in the hope of making trips or better on the flop and letting the original opponent that raised raise again ,this is often the case once a player raises pre flop and is first to bet even if they don't hit they still want to make you think they have because they have placed an above average wager and don't want to lose the pot, this creates the perfect sinario for you to win big if catching trips and cashing in on the situation, also it is good remember it matters not how many players see the flop in this situation the more the merry er in most circumstances.

Now what do you do if pre flop a player makes an above average raise at a table where the norm has been $2 lets say $3 -$4 now your faced with a tougher decision a big raise and you have a pocket pair, yes if you called and you hit trips you could win big, however the downside is even if you hit trips on the flop a player making such a big raise more than likely has a high pair and if any high card is dealt on the flop you must consider the possibility of being beaten, so is a call worth while with your pocket pair because if you don't hit calling $3-$4 bets can be expensive so there for we would avoid calling in this situation.

Forced All in With Pocket Pairs

The only time all your chips should be in the pot with pocket pairs is against one opponent in a tournament and at the very final stages, and this should be a move that was initiated by you.
